Maritime & Logistics Youth Expo 2020
April 17, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free
The Maritime & Logistics Youth Expo will be held on Friday, April 17th, 0900-1300, at the San Jacinto College Maritime, Technology and Technical Training Center, 3700 Old State Hwy 146, La Porte, TX 77571.
If you haven’t confirmed as an exhibitor, there still is time and space available. Deadline for exhibitor registration is April 3rd. If this year’s participation is anything like last year’s, you can expect nearly 500 local middle and high school students who are eager to hear about your company or agency, and how it fits into our local maritime and logistics industry.
In addition to static shoreside displays, there will be an on-water show at the Expo, including a G&H tug demonstrating its amazing maneuvering characteristics, two of the mightiest push boats on the Houston Ship Channel competing against one another in a no-holds barred push off, a simulated medevac demo from a Coast Guard helo (weather & operations permitting), and the Port of Houston Authority fireboat demonstrating its firefighting capabilities.
If you are not able to participate as an exhibitor, please consider volunteering to be a docent. Docents are responsible for staying with an assigned group of students and ensuring their orderly movement from one exhibit to another. Orientation and group roadmaps will be provided on the morning of the event. All volunteers will receive lunch & a commemorative Youth Expo T-shirt. If you have any questions regarding volunteering, please contact Ms. Ursula Williams at williamsua@tsu.edu.
